Disability Insurance

OneMain provides eligible team members with short-term disability (STD) and long-term disability (LTD) coverage at no cost. STD begins after 90 days of employment and LTD begins on your date of hire.

Short-term coverage provides income replacement based on your years of service in the event you become disabled due to your own serious medical condition. Long-term coverage does not have the same years-of-service limitation and offers a buy-up program to increase coverage.

Disability benefits provided by OneMain are administered by The Lincoln Financial Group and will be offset by available state or local benefits to the extent allowed by law. Where offsets are permissible, you are required to apply for any available state or local disability or paid family leave benefits. For more information about these programs and requirements, please see the Time Away from Work policy.

1. New team members are eligible for short-term disability benefits after 90 days of employment.
2. Benefits begin on the sixth business day after you have been disabled for five consecutive business days (referred to as short-term disability elimination period in which you are required to use any available sick time), as defined by the policy.
3. You may remain on STD up to 25 weeks in a rolling 12-month period (if medically supported). Should you remain disabled past 25 weeks, you may be eligible for additional compensation under the Long-Term Disability plan.
4. Team members are subject to pre-existing conditions and are not eligible to receive LTD if they did not have prior coverage with another employer or if they have not been covered on the OneMain plan for at least 365 days.
5. Basic LTD coverage is funded 100 percent by OneMain. Team members wishing to elect additional coverage do so at their own cost.
6. Eligible team members have the opportunity to increase their LTD compensation benefit by an additional 10%, for a total of 60% LTD coverage, up to a maximum of $30,000 per month.
